I witnessed JB doing real time TDD in his talk at the Agile 2009 conference. He was 30 minutes into writing some tests, didn't like the direction it was going, so he deleted everything and started over and ended up with a cleaner solution. It was so freeing to see how he allowed better ideas to emerge through failing early.
